INTERNATIONAL ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY OF MALAYSIA
CAMPUS GOMBAK, SELANGOR

International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) is the campus I have always dreamed of since secondary school.  I used to feel very worried because I was not a clever person, especially in communication languages such as Arabic and English. But after cultivating high determination and going beyond the foundation in Gambang , I feel very grateful to be able to set foot in such a great campus IIUM. Just entering the realm of degrees, I have been exposed to a variety of very interesting things.

On this campus we not only learn about our respective fields but also add subjects that give us additional knowledge among them are the subjects. As example is UNGS 1201 Sustainable Development issues, policies and practice. In this subject we are exposed to a project developed by the United Nation (UN) for the benefit of society around the world. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted at the end of last September by the world government acting as the General Assembly of the United Nations is a milestone in human history.

For the first time we had the same results objectives - KPIs for using business jargon - for global capitalism. The SDGs are a natural evolution of corporate business and social ethics principle of responsibility. They talk to achieve mutual value where business provide personal goods, government public goods and both goods that benefit both private individuals and the general public of the world. The SDG provides a moral template for capitalism, no longer leaving capitalism to the will of the market to extract all the value for the owner and not arrogant, annoying market regulation by the government, but for individual self-regulation and firms working with government and civil society.

I hope this subject gives me something to relate it to Islam and be more sensitive to the surrounding issues such as hunger, poverty, health well-being, gender and so on. I also hope that all communities can take this as an important thing that can help each other solve problems.
